About GNJI

The Global Network for Justice Initiatives (GNJI) is a web-facilitated network of lawyers, scholars and advocates working to enhance access to justice and public interest law in their countries and regions. GNJI aims to promote an expanded, global concept of the legal profession’s professional and civic responsibility and allow greater collaboration among access to justice activists including solo practitioners, lawyers in private firms, law schools, NGOs and bar associations around the world.1

GNJI offers its users a number of features to assist them in building constructive networks. By employing these tools, users can meet each other, sustain contact, share knowledge and collaborate on projects both within and across borders. Some of these features include:

Weblog

GNJI’s weblog allows its users to be permanently updated on issues and initiatives related to access to justice throughout the globe. Members of the GNJI community can use this tool to inform others about important topics and news events that affect the legal profession and access to justice as well as provide their own assessment of these topics. GNJI’s administrator regularly issues invitations to advocates from different countries to become guest bloggers or to submit occasional postings that might be of interest to the GNJI community.

Discussion Forums

GNJI also hosts discussion forums that allow users to communicate and share knowledge and expertise through public and private web-based dialogues. Users can form public discussion groups around questions or topics of their choice; any member of the GNJI community can then participate in these discussions. GNJI’s technological platform also allows its users to have private discussion forums when members of the community need to work on sensitive issues in collaboration with a limited number of GNJI’s users. Whether they are seeking an open dialogue or a space for private discussion, GNJI’s discussion forum provides its users with an easy, friendly, fast and effective way to work in collaboration with other members of the community.

Library: Coming Soon

GNJI’s library will house a large variety of articles and documentation useful to the members of the access to justice and legal community. This documentation is regularly provided to GNJI’ site by its own users and will be available through GNJI’s website at all times. As a repository of documentation, is a one-stop virtual library where access to justice advocates will find publications from individual scholars, lawyers and activists as well as a variety of organizations working on access to justice issues.

Directory: Coming Soon

GNJI’s Directory will provide its users with contact information for a wide range of private and public organizations, lawyers and advocates of access to justice throughout the world. This feature will make it easier for access to justice advocates to find partners within and across borders.
